Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for icing)
  • 2 tablespoons milk (for icing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt; set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, beat softened butter with granulated sugar and brown sugar until fluffy (about three minutes).
  4. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  5. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until just combined; avoid overmixing.
  6. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions onto prepared baking sheets, spacing them two inches apart. Slightly flatten each ball.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are lightly golden but centers appear underbaked.
  8. Allow to cool slightly before drizzling with icing made from powdered sugar and milk.

Notes

Chilling the dough for 30 minutes can enhance the cookies’ thickness and texture.

For variations, try adding chocolate chips or nuts for added flavor.
